Richard Peterson, M.D.
Dr. Peterson is Managing Director at MarketPsych and a behavioral finance expert, psychiatrist, and consultant to the financial industry with clients including Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley Smith Barney, and Merrill Lynch Global Wealth. He is an associate editor of the Journal of Behavioral Finance, and has published widely in academic journals and textbooks. His book Inside the Investor's Brain (Wiley, 2007) was reviewed as "outstanding" in Barrons.
At MarketPsych he specializes in the implementation of both investor training programs and market-beating investment strategies. Dr. Peterson was portfolio manager of the MarketPsy Long-Short Fund LP. Previously he developed neural network-based market forecasting software and traded stocks, futures, and options for Intelligent Investments Partners.
Dr.Peterson has a Doctor of Medicine degree (M.D.) and undergraduate degrees in Electrical Engineering and Arts from the University of Texas, all with honors. He is Board Certified in Psychiatry. Dr. Peterson has performed behavioral finance and neuroeconomics research at Stanford University. He has developed financial psychology profiling tools, published in academic journals, and has given presentations to scholars at Stanford, Berkeley, and MIT.

Frank Murtha, Ph.D.
Dr. Murtha is Managing Partner at MarketPsych, consultant and frequent speaker about investor psychology and behavioral finance. He has consulted for the New York-based consulting firm RHR International Company where he performed corporate and executive evaluations and coaching. His clients there included investment banks, financial services companies, and day trading firms where he has coached portfolio managers in reaching peak performance.
Dr. Murtha received his doctorate in Counseling Psychology from the State University of New York. His dissertation explored the effect of cognitive errors on gambling behavior. He holds a professorship at New York University and previously lectured at the Smeal College of Business Administration at Penn State.
An investing psychology content expert, Dr. Murtha is interviewed frequently by news and print media outlets and has been featured numerous times on National Public Radio, Nightly Business Report, CNBC and World Business Review. He works as a consultant, speaker, and writer based out of the New York City area. Aleksander Fafula, Ph.D.
Aleksander Fafula is Chief Data Scientist at MarketPsych. He holds diplomas in Informatics and Econometrics, and has a Ph.D. in Finance. For more than twelve years he has worked on distributed mission critical systems related to data security and the financial markets. He is the author of a methodology to detect human cognitive biases in stock price activity, which is the basis of an experimental stock trading system simulator. In his dissertation he developed the world's first hybrid behavioural stock market indicators. Dr. Fafula has developed applications in cloud computing, data mining (decision trees, clustering, visualisation, regression, association), time series modelling, and artificial intelligence.
Changjie Liu is Chief of Analytics at MarketPsych. He has been involved in sentiment research and trading strategies for the last five years. His prior studies include the impact of sentiment on price during technology product launches and effect of staleness on market sentiment reactions. Previously he worked as an algorithmic trader at Four Elements Capital, where he was responsible for the design and analysis of execution strategies in commodity futures. At MarketPsych he creates quantitative trading models based on sentiment reactions in various asset classes. Changjie graduated from National University of Singapore with first-class honors (BS in Computer Science), and obtained a Master of Financial Engineering from University of California, Berkeley.
Mr. Gutierrez is Chief Technology Officer at MarketPsych. Mr. Gutierrez has 20 years experience managing complex multitechnology projects in insurance (Maxima AFJP), banking (BBVA), utilities (EdERSA), and chemicals (Monsanto, Merck). At MarketPsych, Mr. Gutierrez architects queue handling, clustered components for horizontal scalability, on-demand hadoop clusters, and language interoperability. As MarketPsych's CTO he manages our team of computer scientists including specialists in natural language processing, machine learning, and high-performance computing. Mr. Gutierrez earned a Computer Science degree from Universidad Argentina de la Empresa.
